A couple fish were real nice slabs (1-1.5#). We fished from about 4pm til dark. The bite seemed to really pickup at sundown. We were basically fishing minnows in about 6-8' depth with a float/bait. Our rig was pretty simple; float about 4' above bait and spilt-shot. We caught our bait right off shore with castnet. The shad are everywhere in the backs of coves.

While fishing for crappie, we also tried for bass. 2 for myself, 3 my friend caught all on plastic worms (watermelon, pumkinseed colors).

-- Wes
Tue. Sounds like the basis for a great horror movie, right?

Well, "Piranha 3-D" is being filmed in Arizona for release next March. It's a remake of the 1978 Joe Dante 'classic' film. Movie fan sites are posting details on the stars, director, etc.

Didn't they do a terrestrial version of this concept with the filming of "Evolution" here in Arizona a few years ago? [above, Tempe Town Lake. Photo by Greg Folley]

The study concludes that water systems such as canals "cut across stream channels, disrupting the flow of water and sediments from tributary networks to the main channel. In pristine streams, sandbars and other patches created where these sediments collect are often ideal places for nutrient cycling. By starving streams of their historic supply of this material, canals accidentally alter the way nutrients are cycled in stream ecosystems."

The authors report that "surface and subsurface hydrologic network is short circuited with water entering the channel from well and canal sources, and water leaving by evaporation, seepage, and canal redirection."

<a style="font-family: arial;" This strategy is knowing what artificial lure to fish with. The single most productive bass bait is the plastic lure. Soft plastics look almost exactly like natural fish foods. Legs, feelers, and even minute details like scales add to the realistic appearance. Plastic worms range from four to twelve inches and come in a wide variety of shapes, colors, and styles. One has to know not only what type of plastic lure to fish with, but also when to fish with a certain type or color. The plastic lure is highly versatile and can be rigged in a number of ways to catch bass from the bottom to the surface. The plastic lure is one of the most realistic artificial lures on the market today. Quite simply, the plastic lure is the number one bass lure. The plastic lure will often entice bass to bite, even in tough conditions such as bad weather. When fishing with the plastic lure one must develop a technique that suits the bait being fished with. Presentation is a very big part of fishing with plastic lures. A plastic lure will fail if it is not presented in a lifelike manner, or as the actual bait would move and behave. The straight worm is one of the most productive plastic worms available. The original plastic worm was designed to mimic a live night crawler. Like the real thing, this worm is segmented, has a straight body with an enlarged egg sac and a straight tail. A straight worm will work most any time, but it is especially productive in early spring, when bass are sluggish in cold water.
